From After the Half life
When I woke up, I had no idea where I was. It was dark - a thick, absolute blackness that allowed me to see nothing. I could feel that my arms and legs were tied tightly together and that I was lying face down. I knew I was also naked apart from the ropes and that a gag that had been forced into my mouth. I could feel the bulk of it with my tongue. It seemed to be strapped securely to the back of my head and there was no chance I could shift it. Was I blindfolded too? I could not feel one, but then I could not see either. Was it just that the room was so dark because there were no lights?
I shivered with cold though I was not entirely certain it was actually cold. Perhaps I was simply scared, and that was what was making me shake. There were so many things I did not know – starting with whether I would ever be allowed clothes again. What sort of surface was I resting upon? I thought based upon the feel, it was probably a wooden floor. It was cold but not so hard and unforgiving as it would have been if it was stone flooring or tiles. I quickly berated myself for dwelling on something so trivial. What did it matter what the floor was made of really? It was the least of my problems, surely.
There were far more important things to consider. Could I move at all, or even shift my position? I felt so stiff, and I was in a great deal of pain. How long had I been left here to get into this state? And where, for that matter, was “here”? Would I ever know, and was that even relevant to me anymore? I might never be permitted to leave this room again, for all I knew. I tried to move as best as I could, but I could not shift more than a couple of inches. It gave me no real relief from the aches. I could only assume that the ropes were secured to some kind of furniture.
More than anything I wished that I could move enough to get onto my side or back even, because I hated being on my belly. I supposed, however, that if he had wanted me to be able to turn, he would have tied me in a way that allowed it. It must be, therefore, a deliberate decision to keep me like this. I wondered then: was it an act of defiance to even try and circumvent his plans? Had I mentioned how much I loathed being on my front when we had talked online? At that moment, it seemed like telling him would have been the height of stupidity.
Part of me, though, had wanted to confess every weakness so he could exploit them all. I think he had wanted to know them all, too. He could not get to know me in the usual way, of course, but we had chatted extensively online. During those talks, he had asked me about all sorts of things – some seemingly trivial – others far less so and made it clear that I was expected to answer honestly or there would be consequences. To the best of my ability, I had tried to do what he commanded.
A thought occurred to me then, one which made me mentally put my hand over my mouth in a sudden fit of recollection. I wondered if he had remembered me telling him that I was quite capable of slipping out of rope bondage if it was not perfectly executed. On impulse, I tested the ropes just in case there was any slack or a loose knot I could exploit. Either he had listened to every word I said, or he was naturally gifted. I could not budge an inch. If it were not for the texture of the cords, I might have thought my wrist and ankles were encased in iron.
I could not even scream as I was gagged. I could feel the leather straps biting into my face and something large and rubber filling my mouth. I could breathe fine but could only make small, muffled whimpers. Strangely, I felt relaxed. I thought, at first, that this must be to do with the lingering effects of the drug, but after a while I reconsidered the matter. There was a strange sense that I was home, somehow. The thought kept popping into my head, however illogical it seemed.
